Successful bargaining
John, from Chichester, even haggles for more bargain-shy friends – after his friend got a quote for a TV and HDD/DVD recorder, John simply phoned the shop to ask for a discount if his friend bought both together – it knocked 10% off the prices. He also saved nearly £1,500 on mobility equipment both in a local shop and from a home visit, just by asking for a discount.
Which? member Sue Bushnell from Devon got nearly £3,700 off her new kitchen with a little bargaining. By simply asking for discounts (after doing lots of research comparing prices online) from both local independent shops and bigger chain stores, she managed to knock £100 off the price of some kitchen equipment, secure free delivery on a fridge freezer rather than pay the £50 charge, and save £3,000 on kitchen fixtures and fittings.
