What are bank account dashboards?

Account aggregators are websites that allow you to view all your online bank, credit card and savings accounts in one place, instead of having to constantly log on to different sites. They also offer a useful overview of your net wealth.

Among the recent entrants to the market are Moneydashboard and Lovemoney, while First Direct has offered an aggregator service for some years.

Bank account aggregators checklist

Before you sign up with an account aggregator service, there are three key aspects to check:

  • The aggregator is going to ask for your online passwords. You must check with the companies with which you hold your accounts, to make sure you are not breaking their terms and conditions
  • Check what protection you have if things go wrong, such as a security failure. Ask the aggregator and study copies of its terms and conditions
  • Check if there are any fees involved, or what is likely to happen if fees are subsequently introduced.
