Customer experience of making a claim is key when it comes to choosing the best car insurance policy

Between April 2011 and December 2011, we asked an online panel of 936 Which? members who had claimed, about their experience with their car insurance.  Which? surveys members on a regular basis to establish their levels of overall customer satisfaction, as drivers’ experiences are key when it comes to considering how good an insurer is. We regard claims satisfaction as the most important element. Paying for a policy is one thing; how queries and claims are dealt with is another.

How to read the table

The table identifies the top insurers as ranked according to their claims satisfaction. Companies that achieve the highest scores are those that Which? readers would be most likely to recommend on the basis of their claims experience. 

New entrants to the car insurance market or niche insurers won't have collated enough responses from our survey respondents, but many of the main insurers feature.
