Income protection Age-related policies
Gender and smoking habits will influence premiums with this type of policy
Age-related policies are good for people in higher-risk jobs or for women and smokers because these factors aren't always taken into account when deciding how much you pay for the policy. They can also start off cheaper than guaranteed policies and even reviewable policies.
The catch is that the premium will go up each year as you get older. However, the increases are published beforehand so you'll know how much to expect - meaning there should be no nasty surprises.
Best Buys
All our Best Buys will pay out if you are unable to carry out your 'own occupation' or an occupation 'for which you are trained and suited'. They also include waiver of premium, rehabilitation and proportionate benefits at no extra cost to you (see 'How to buy' for more information).
The tables show the premiums charged for £1,000 a month benefit payable until 65 for men and women aged 35 and 50. We've shown two different deferred periods - 13 weeks and 26 weeks and premiums for both low and high-risk jobs.
