Apple has unveiled new software which allows its latest computers to run Microsoft Windows.

Its 'Boot Camp' software is compatible with Macs which contain Intel chips and allows users to run either Apple's own Mac OS X system or the Windows XP.

A trial version of the Bootcamp download is now available for a limited period and Apple's Philip Schiller said many customers had expressed an interest in running Windows on Apple hardware.

'We think Boot Camp makes the Mac even more appealing to Windows users considering making the switch.'
