A knife and fork next to a plate

London outstrips every other UK city for its plethora of fine restaurants, says the new Which? Good Food Guide 2007.

But the Good Food Guide's top 20 cities for eating out show that cities in northern England and in Scotland are also offering a wide choice of top eateries; Manchester has 26, Edinburgh 22 and Leeds 14.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has written a foreward to the latest edition, outlining his 'recipe for success'. Other contributors include much-travelled journalist John Simpson.

London is top

London is way ahead with 333 entries in the latest guide - as might be expected in a city of its size.

Which? Good Food Guide Editor Andrew Turvil said: 'No other UK city can compete, just as Chelsea have dominated the Premiership these last few years. But it's not so grim up north, with Manchester and Leeds near the top of the table.'

The new edition includes £50 of money-off vouchers. You can buy the Good Food Guide 2007 online, direct from Which?.
