Music fans searching out the lyrics to their favourite song can now take advantage of a new feature from internet giant Yahoo!
It has expanded its online music section to include the lyrics of 400,000 songs – a service it describes as the largest legally licensed database of lyrics on the net.
Artists covered range from classic groups such as The Beatles and the Rolling Stones to more contemporary artists such as Radiohead and The Killers.
Although song lyrics have been available on websites for years, many of these didn't have copyright approval and also included inaccurate lyrics.
Nearly 100 music publishers are contributing song lyrics to the Yahoo! Database, including music giants BMG Music Publishing, EMI Music Publishing, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Universal Music Publishing Group and Warner/Chappell Music.
Fans can search for song lyrics from the Yahoo! Music Search bar even if they just enter a partial lyric from a song.
Yahoo! says the addition of a comprehensive lyrics library will now complement its existing music products such as radio, music videos and on-demand music offerings.
