A new hand held gadget which allows you to surf the net wherever there is a mobile phone signal is set to hit stores next month.

The PocketSurfer2 will allow you to browse the web in its original HTML layout on a 640 x 240 colour widescreen display.

It has an integrated mouse pointer and a keyboard, fits easily into a pocket or bag and promises page-load times of less than seven seconds.

For the first year there is no monthly fee so long as you use the PocketSurfer2 for less than 20 hours per month.

Unlimited access

However, you can have unlimited access for £5.99 per month.

Suneet S. Tuli, CEO of DataWind said: ‘Our goal was to deliver the real web, fast and free. With PocketSurfer2 mobile users can surf the internet anytime, anyplace and enjoy the same rich media graphics and browser functionality of the desktop experience.

‘This device is going to revolutionise the way we work, play, communicate and take advantage of the wireless web.’

The PocketSurfer2 costs £179.99 and will be available in high street stores, and independent consumer electronics and mobile phone stores from 16 August.
