Sky and Sony to put TV on PSPEntertainment giants announce joint venture
30 July 2007
Sony PSP owners in the UK and Ireland will soon have the chance to watch Sky programmes on their consoles.
The companies have announced a joint venture which they say will allow the 2.3 million PSP owners in both countries to watch a ‘wealth of video and film content’.
The new service, due to launch in early 2008, will be the first official PSP video download service anywhere in Europe.
It will offer sports, entertainment, movies, music and animation from both Sky and other channel partners.
Videos will be downloadable to PSPs either wirelessly or through a connection to a PC.
Sky says the tie-up with Sony will give PSP owners the opportunity to turn their devices into personalised on-demand video libraries.
Access to content will be available either on a subscription or pay-per-view basis.
More information on the service will be announced at the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany on 22 August.
