Apple says it has sold more than three billion downloaded songs from its iTunes online music store.
The California-based technology giant described the figure as an ‘incredible milestone’.
It comes less than 18 months after Apple sold its one billionth song on iTunes.

The iTunes website now includes a catalogue of more than five million songs.
Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of iTunes, said: ‘We’d like to thank all of our customers who have contributed to this incredible milestone.’
Apple publicised its one billionth iTunes download – Coldplay’s Speed of Sound – in February last year.
The iTunes online music store was launched in the US on 28 April 2003 and in the UK on 15 June 2004.
