Pure Digital has unveiled the follow up to the world’s best selling DAB digital radio.

The company hopes the Evoke-1S, which will go on sale next month, will match the unparalleled success of its predecessor, the Evoke-1XT.

Improvements include the addition of a ChargePAK, which offers up to 24 hours of portable listening.

Other added features include textSCAN and Intellitext so that scrolling text can be paused and controlled as well as stored for browsing at a later date

It also has a light sensor which automatically adjusts display brightness, an auxiliary input to connect an MP3 player or MiniDisc player, and Pure says it has enhanced audio compared to its predecessor.

Environmental impact

The Evoke-1S has also been designed to minimise environmental impact, with a standby power consumption of less than 1W, packaging made from a minimum of 70 per cent recycled material and documentation printed with soya-based ink on 100 per cent recycled paper.

Which? digital radio expert Lizzy Payne said: 'Digital Radios from Pure often score well in our comparative tests and our research indicates that they're a very reliable brand that has a low chance of breaking down.

'It will be interesting to see if this model reaches the high standards we've set to make it as a Best Buy.'

The radio is available in real maple or cherry veneer and will be available from all leading electrical retailers for £99.99 in September.
