Cars in a traffic jam

TomTom has launched two satellite navigation (sat nav) devices which feature a new slim design and its latest navigation software.

The company says the TomTom GO 720 – which costs £329 - comes pre-installed with the most up-to-date door-to-door map of Western Europe.

The GO 520 costs £30 less and offers UK and Ireland mapping.

The 520 and 720 both work with TomTom's new 'Map Share' technology, which enables motorists to correct maps instantly as well as check out improvements made by other users.

Updated maps

Both feature a 4.3 inch touch screen and have a built-in FM transmitter to transmit sound over your car stereo.

TomTom is also offering its TomTom GO customers a ‘latest map guarantee’.

This means that customers will be able to download the latest map version free of charge if a more recent map has become available in the time between production and purchase.

TomTom customers can check what map version they have on the company website and use the map check code that is included in the box to activate their ‘latest map guarantee’.

Which? test

Which? Motoring Editor Richard Headland said: 'We're pleased to see TomTom offering a 'latest map guarantee' as many sat nav buyers complain to us that their maps are out of date when the product is brand new.

'We're testing the GO520 at present and will give or verdict on it soon.'
