Asda will sell Scotland football shirts for £29 following a deal with kit manufacturer Diadora, it has announced.
The retail price for adult shirts is around £10 less than at some sports chains, according to the supermarket.
Asda announced the deal with Diadora earlier this month but delayed the launch due to stock shortages.
Its prices will range from £29 for adult long-sleeved shirts to £24 for the child’s short-sleeved version.
Call for fair prices
Asda has traditionally sourced football merchandise from the grey market, where a third party supplier sells on the products.
It is now setting up a website petition calling on football kit manufacturers to sell the shirts at ‘fair’ prices.
Asda’s general manager for sporting goods, Paul Crier, said: ‘At last we’re starting to see the whistle blown on rip-off football shirt prices.’
The shirts plus adults’ and children’s football shorts go on sale this Saturday in 38 Asda stores in Scotland.
