20 November 2007
High-street chain Currys is hoping to appeal to eco-friendly viewers with a series of televisions made from wood.
It says the Tree-Vs from Swedish manufacturer Swedx are built with natural ash, sapele or beech wood from sustainable forest sources.
The LCD TVs will be coming to Currys stores and online to Dixons.co.uk in time for Christmas and can be reserved online now.
DeVere Forster, of Dixons.co.uk, said: ‘We're delighted to be the exclusive stockist of the Tree-Vs from Swedx.
‘They are high-specification televisions, with the added advantage of being constructed within frames from all-natural, renewable, sustainable, recyclable resources.'
The 19-inch widescreen Tree-Vs, which cost £350, have built-in Freeview tuners and are described as perfect for wall mounting.
Which? TV expert Mike Briggs said: 'This TV looks interesting but it's difficult to comment on its green credentials without any power-use measurements.'
