Virgin Media has announced it’s halving the price of its personal video recorder (PVR) - the V+Box – in the run-up to Christmas.

The PVR costs £75 until the end of December and allows viewers to record up to 80 hours of TV programmes and films.

V+ has three tuners so you can record two channels whilst watching a third and it will also pause live TV.

Virgin Media says customers signing up by 12 December are guaranteed installation by Christmas Eve.

Best Buy

The V+ is a Best Buy in the latest Which? PVR report.

It’s the only cable television PVR and can also receive high definition (HD) signals – although it’s not the best HD picture quality we've seen. You'll also need an HD-ready TV.

We found that as a PVR it works brilliantly, is hugely versatile and has many features. However it is not as straightforward to use as some other Best Buy Freeview and Sky PVRs.

The V+ is available only directly from Virgin and you need to be a Virgin cable customer. Monthly costs for the V+ vary depending on the TV package you subscribe to.
