A bridal collection with sizes up to a 32 has been launched by a high street chain.
Evans says the larger dresses will help brides who would otherwise rely on expensive made-to-measure gowns.
Most other high street chains only sell bridal dresses up to a size 22, Evans said.
Its new bridal wear collection starts at size 14 and goes up to size 32 for one of the three bridal dresses.
The other two bridal dresses go up to size 30. A Grecian beaded top and a full length satin skirt also go up to size 32.
The rest of the clothing collection, which includes a two-piece trouser outfit, all goes up to size 30.
Evans buying director Sue Vandenberghe said women should celebrate their curves.
‘Our research showed that there was a limited size range available for most bridalwear on the high street, and with the average size of a woman in the UK being a size 16 we realised there was demand from our customer for something special to wear on their wedding day,’ she said.
The Evans bridal wear collection includes three bridal dresses with prices ranging from £120 to £150.
Empire line dress
Designs include a taffeta prom dress, an embroidered wrap dress, and a full length empire line dress.
The collection also includes two-piece outfits such as a satin skirt with bustier.
Evans markets itself as the fashion chain of choice for women sized 16 and above.
Its new bridalwear collection will be sold in 12 of its UK stores and online.
