Market watch – new and used deals
Following on from last week’s special offer on the i30 hatch, Hyundai has slashed more than 20% off the price of the cheapest Getz.
That brings it down to £5,995, a price that includes air conditioning and Hyundai’s five-year warranty.
At the same price is the Clio Campus. Renault will be selling this version of the previous generation Clio until the end of the year.
This is the model that had problems with its bonnet catch but we have to assume that this is now an issue that has been resolved.
Renault is offering £2,180 cashback on the Clio Campus 1.2, bringing the price down to £5,995.
There are also deals of £750 off the Twingo, £1,000 off the new Clio, £2,000 off the soon-to-be-replaced Mégane, and £3,000 off the Scenic – though not every model in each range.
More impressive still are the deals you can get on the Ford Ka, soon to be replaced by an all-new model. Autobytel is offering the 1.3i Style for just £4,994, which is close to £3,000 off the list price.
Mind you, it doesn’t have to be a runout Ford to qualify for a massive price cut. The Fusion mini-MPV and the Focus CC coupe cabriolet are both subject to healthy discounting.
At Dagenham Motors there is £3,200 off the Fusion 1.4 Zetec, down to £9,595, and a whopping £5,000 of a Focus CC 2.0, down to £13,480.
Vauxhall builds its Vectra right into the autumn, but as the stylish new Insignia has already been revealed, expect plenty of great deals on the current car.
The Vectra 1.8 Exclusive is available at most Vauxhall dealers for well under £11,000, a £4,500 saving, with diesels available for £1,000 more.
Fiat Grande Punto deals
Fiat launched its mildly revised Grande Punto supermini this summer but there are still plenty of the very similar previous models around.
Carfile has pre-registered Grande Puntos at discounts of around 27%, making 1.4 Active Sport 3dr just £7,031.
These cars won’t get the new extended five-year warranty that Fiat is offering, but this is still an impressive deal.
£11,000 off a Jaguar XJ
Big luxury cars are hard to sell these days but even so, £11,000 off the price of a Jaguar XJ is something of a surprise.
UK Car Discount has unregistered Jaguar XJ Executive saloons in long wheelbase form and with the all-important turbo diesel engine for £36,530. The list price is £47,302.
