Volkswagen is expanding its Scirocco coupé range, adding new engines and an entry-level specification.
So, alongside the existing 2.0-litre turbo ‘Scirocco GT’ model, you can now buy a regular Scirocco with a 1.4-litre petrol engine.
Turbocharged and supercharged, this produces 158bhp and reaches 62mph in 8.0 seconds. This is capable of 42.8mpg combined, and emits 154g/km of CO2.
Also joining the line-up in both standard and GT trim is a 138bhp 2.0-litre diesel. This does 0-62mph in 9.3 seconds, and is available with six-speed manual or twin-clutch gearbox.
A combined fuel economy of 55.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 134g/km (manual) make this the economical choice.
All cars get VW’s Adaptive Chassis Control system, while the standard trim also includes a six-CD changer, air conditioning, and 17-ich alloys amongst its equipment.
On sale now, the 1.4-litre petrol costs £18,790, and the 2.0-litre diesel starts at £19,515.
