Almost 170,000 former Icesave customers have had their claims for recompense processed by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
Four fifths of all Icesave account holders have successfully completed the online process for claiming their savings back in November, with many having received full recompense.

Of the 38,000 customers still to apply, 16,000 are not online and have been sent application forms through the post. The remainder are encouraged to visit the FSCS website and complete the claims process. These customers will be sent an email reminding them to lodge their claim using an online form.
‘We’ve offered compensation to about 198,000 Icesave customers over the last four weeks, and are really pleased that nearly 170,000 of them have already completed the online process.’ FSCS Chief Executive Loretta Minghella told us. ‘We have now paid over £3bn to Icesave customers and are encouraging those who have not yet completed the online process to do so as soon as possible. We have also posted guidance on the consumer page of our website for anyone who has not received their second email or is having any difficulty completing the process. Those who need assistance can contact us by telephone or via a special web form, and we will be pleased to respond to them individually.’
