Skoda Octavia

Special edition of sporty vRS Octavia

For the second time this week we’re starting with official manufacturer deals – this time from Skoda and Chevrolet.

Skoda has announced a ‘Limited Edition’ Octavia vRS. This costs £750 more than the regular car (which already has the VAT knocked off it at the moment), but includes ‘bespoke Italian leather seats’, metallic paint, unique 18-inch wheels, touch-screen stereo, special badging and new interior dash trim amongst its extras.

Just 500 will be built, and it’s priced from £16,295.

Chevrolet’s special edition ‘Ikon’ Captiva crams in even more value. Priced £15,995 for the 2.4-litre petrol (there won’t be many takers) or £16,995 for the 2.0-litre turbodiesel (which is at least more fuel efficient). Respectively, that’s already a £1,000 and £1,400 discount over the LS trim it’s based on.

Yet the Ikon also includes over £3,000 worth of additional extras. Focused on styling enhancements, this means 20-inch alloy wheels, tinted windows, sidesteps and chrome finished exhaust.

Multipla savings

Fiat’s Multipla is a spacious MPV with an usual two-rows-of-three seating layout. It’s no longer quite the challenging looker it once was, either. But the reason it’s here is because Carquake can save you £5,385 on a brand new one.

Well-specified Dynamic Plus trim with proven 1.9-litre turbodiesel engine, it’s available for £11,495 instead of £16,880. Quite a saving.

Used Mondeo for mad money

Ford Mondeo

Bargain Mondeo with less than 10,000 miles on the clock

A five-door Ford Mondeo in top spec Titanium X trim would be an unwise new choice at the moment if you specified the 2.5-litre turbo petrol engine at £23,931. However, buy one used and the inevitably hefty fuel bill might not be such an issue. Autoquake has as example, registered in July 2008 with 8,734 miles, priced at £12,996.

That’s £10,935 less than list – almost half price! – and it’s not even in the Last Chance Cars section.
