JVC GZ-HM200 HD camcorder

The JVC GZ-HM200 HD camcorder features dual SD recording

JVC has announced that it will be adding seven new camcorders to its Everio range in the upcoming months, including four standard definition models and three HD models.

Each model comes bundled with software, which allows users to quickly export video clips to their Apple iTunes library and then play them back on their iPod or iPhone. Supplied software also enables users to upload videos directly to YouTube or burn footage straight to DVD.

The Everio GZ-HD300 and the Everio GZ-HD320 are HD camcorders with integrated hard drives, measuring 60GB and 120GB respectively. The third HD camcorder in the batch of new releases is the GZ-HM200. This model features two SD memory card slots, and JVC claims that once the first card reaches capacity, recording is then stored on the second SD card without any interruption.

This dual SD recording technology is also present on the standard definition GZ-MS120. The remaining standard definition camcorders all feature hard drives, with the  GZ-MG680 housing 120GB of memory and the GZ-MG630 and the GZ-MG645 both being able to save up to 60GB of media.

Twin SD memory card recording capabilities

Richard Parris, Which? camcorder expert, said: 'The dual SD recording technology is an innovative idea, and will please parents who know what it's like to have to interrupt the filming of a school play to change memory cards. With the memory card capacities increasing so rapidly, however, the usefulness of this feature may be short-lived.'
