People queued through the night to be first to get their hands on the Nokia 5800 - the brand's first touchscreen phone that is set to rival Apple's iPhone.

The phone, which has built-in surround sound speakers, went on sale Friday at flagship stores in London's Regent Street and Heathrow Terminal Five.

Britain's Got Talent winner George Sampson entertained people who were so keen to be the first in the UK to use the phone that some queued through the night in Regent Street.

George, 15, danced a specially choreographed routine on a floor which lit up as he stepped across it, echoing the 5800's touchscreen technology.

The first 100 people to buy the new 'big sound' phone also received tickets for the Benicassim music festival in Spain.

A Nokia spokeswoman said the phone was aimed at technology-savvy music lovers aged 16 to 30.

The Nokia 5800, which has a recommended retail price of £249, goes on sale nationwide on January 30.

First in the queue for the new 5800 handset was Guy Norman, 27, from Waterloo, London, who started queuing at 10.30pm last night.

His new phone was presented by George Sampson and Nokia managing director Mark Loughran.

Which? mobile phone expert Jon Barrow said: 'Despite the queues outside the Nokia store, I doubt the new 5800 will rival the popularity of the Best Buy Apple iPhone. Although it's interesting to see Nokia embrace touchscreen technology, little else about the phone is especially revolutionary. That said, we still expect it to work well and, having managed to get our hands on one, look forward to seeing how it performs in our tests.'
