Market Watch – new and used car deals

Not a big saving, this one, but a sign of the times – UK Car Discount can save you £1,223 on a brand new MkVI Volkswagen Golf.

That’s for the 1.4-litre 'TSI' turbo petrol five-door in SE specification, yours for £14,739. The list price for this model is £15,962.

Saab 9-3 Convertible deals

 Save £11k on Saab 9-3

Once you’d have been lucky to get a discount on any VW, let alone one that’s so new to the market.

Is spring in the air? Maybe not – there are still bargains to be had on convertibles.

The Saab 9-3 may be rather old now, but the drop-top version is still respected for its stylish image (if not its driving dynamics).

Drive the Deal has 148bhp 1.9-litre turbodiesels available with a massive 38% discount. Brand-new Vector Sports, unregistered and in stock in a range of colours for £18,295. Or choose an automatic for £19,220.

That’s a saving of £11,200 and £11,700, respectively.

Toyota Prius used deal

Buy a used Prius for £15k

Finally, here's an inspired used deal. If you're not so sure about the Honda Insight’s value now UK pricing has finally been released, how about a top-spec Toyota Prius for even less?

Autoquake has an '08' Prius with 7,021 miles on the clock, on sale for just £15,400.

Not only does that undercut the entry-level Insight by £90, it’s £5,310 less than the current £20,710 Prius T Spirit list price.
