LG has announced that it will showcase the LG Arena KM900 mobile phone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week.
LG has been careful to only announce a few details of the latest flagship model, but the feature that has caught the media’s attention is the phone’s unusual 3D interface, which appears to be a departure from the conventional static interfaces that most mobile phones feature.
In the centre of the handset’s 3-inch screen is a 3D cube, which features different applications on each of its faces. The cube can be rotated with a swipe of the finger across the screen. LG describes the user interface as being a ‘more fun and engaging gateway to delivering an amazing multimedia experience’.
Apple iPhone comparison
Jon Barrow, Which? mobile phone expert, said: ‘We’re looking forward to hearing more about this mobile phone at its official unveiling next week, in particular it’s unique user interface. Comparisons have already been made to the Apple iPhone, but living up to these expectations will be a tall order, as the iPhone features one of the most user-friendly interfaces currently available.’
The LG Arena features a 5Mp camera, Wi-Fi connectivity and GPS capabilities. More details, including launch date and price, are expected to be announced at the Mobile World Congress expo next week.
