Rich pickings for eBay Pic 'n' Mix winnerLast bag of Woolworths Pic 'n' Mix now on eBay
20 February 2009
The last bag of Pic 'n' Mix from the now closed Woolworths chain is for sale on the auction site eBay, in a bid to raise cash for a retail charity.
Bids for the bag of sweets have already topped £300, with the auction set to close on Saturday, 21 February. All proceeds will go to Retail Trust, a welfare charity for the retail sector.
The auction was placed by Ed Adams, formerly store manager of the Petts Wood branch of Woolworths, who spotted the bag before closing the store for the last time.
He said: ‘I then decided to bag it up before contacting Retail Trust to see if it could be auctioned on their behalf. I hope the auction raises funds to go towards the Retail Trust Helpline, which is a lifeline for retail workers and their families during these difficult times.’
The bag of Pic 'n' Mix weighs about 800g and includes favourites such as fizzy cola bottles, white chocolate mice, pineapple cubes and strawberry bon bons. Bids started at 99p.
Retail Trust has been involved in the welfare of retail workers and their families since 1832, and is championed by leading UK retail figures such as Sir Philip Green and Sir Stuart Rose.
The Retail Trust helpline is 0808 801 0808. The service is free and confidential, and is available to retail workers and their families.
