Audi has announced a new 1.8-litre turbo petrol version of its , to be badged 1.8 TFSI. The 158bhp engine may be some 40bhp down on the previous entry-level 2.0-litre turbo petrol, but it's still got enough grunt to propel the car from 0-62mph in just 7.4 seconds, and on to a top speed of 139mph.
And while the economy may not match the introduced last year, it offers impressive efficiency for a petrol-powered sports car. The official combined average fuel economy is 40.9mpg, with CO2 emissions of 159g/km.
Tempting TT prices
It is only available in 'standard' trim for the time being, but this still includes 17-inch alloys, electronic climate control, powered wind deflector, and powered soft top. The roof takes just 12 seconds to operate, and can be raised or lowered at speeds of up to 19mph.
But the best news of all about this new TT 1.8 TFSI is the price.
Starting at £23,910 it costs £3,445 less than the next cheapest TT Roadster, the 2.0-litre turbo, which is priced from £27,355.
The car is available to order now, with first deliveries in April. Which? members can read our .
