Hyundai Mobile UK has announced that the MB-910 wristwatch-style mobile phone will be launched in the UK this summer, after what Hyundai Mobile has described as a successful launch in mainland Europe.
The MB-910 will cost £200, Sim-free, and will come supplied with a Bluetooth headset – although speaking directly into the watch’s microphone is also possible.
Hyundai claims that the wristwatch-styled mobile phone will offer up to three hours of talk-time, and around 70 hours of battery power in standby.
Jon Barrow, Which? mobile phone expert, said: ‘If this mobile phone couldn’t be worn as a watch it would receive very little interest, as it’s a very basic model – lacking a camera and decent web connectivity. But the fact that it can be worn on the wrist makes it an interesting concept, and one we’ve only seen before from LG at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show.’
The device will also feature music and video playback functions and a basic WAP browser.
Roland Prinz, director of Hyundai Mobile UK, said: ‘The Hyundai Mobile brand is about the latest cutting edge technology at a price point which is accessible to the masses. Already a hit in Europe, we have high hopes for the MB-910’s entry to the UK market’.
