Customers have downloaded over a billion software applications from Apple’s iTunes App Store, which sells software downloads for the iPhone and .

The one billionth application was downloaded by thirteen-year-old Connor Mulcahey who wins a $10,000 iTunes gift card, an iPod touch, a Time Capsule and a as part of a promotional competition run by Apple.

Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide product marketing said: 'We'd like to thank our customers and developers for helping us achieve the astonishing milestone of one billion apps downloaded.'

Which? on the App Store

The App Store has more than 35,000 applications. Among those is an application developed by Which?. By downloading the Which? App you can get mobile access to Best Buy information on the move.

Apple will update its software this summer allowing developers, such as Which?, to add new features including extended parental controls.
