Less than £20k for an S2000
Honda S2000 for even less
Having flagged up what was – at the time – an excellent Honda S2000 deal last week, it would be remiss not to point out an even better one this week...
Motorpoint is using the S2000 as an example of why it feels the is uncompetitive compared with its own prices. At the time of writing the car supermarket had no less than 32 of the Honda roadsters available unregistered with delivery mileage only for just £18,999 a piece.
These are the ordinary model, rather than the higher-spec GT we found last week. But the saving is even greater – at £9,131 less than the £28,130 list price.
£6K off a sporty Ford Focus
The imminent arrival of the scrappage scheme does, however, mean that any discount that's less than £2,000 suddenly seems rather pathetic. Fortunately, we've found a nicely specced Ford Focus with nearly £6,000 off.
Buy A Car has a number of sporty Zetec S five doors in stock, with lively 1.6 petrol engine, finished in various shades of metallic paint. Ford lists this car at £18,040 (though it is currently on offer with £1,700 off); Buy A Car is selling them for £12,195.
Total saving: £5,845. Not bad on an excellent mainstream family vehicle.
Year-old Audi A4s for under £20k
New-shape A4s getting affordable
Fancy a new-shape Audi A4, but don't want to pay full price for it? Well, they have been on sale a year now and are just starting to hit the used market in earnest.
Budget around £20,000 and you should be able to pick up a a nice 140bhp 2.0-litre TDI turbodiesel in SE specification with around 10,000 miles on the clock – possibly less. However, if you can stand a car that's been used twice as hard, you can get that exact car for less than £18k.
For a good value example of such a deal, try Autoquake. They've an 08-plate with 21,389 miles priced to sell at £17,800. That's £5,360 less than the £23,160 list price – even before options.
