Panasonic has announced three Lumix digital cameras in its popular FS series. The Lumix DMC-FS62, the Lumix DMC-FS12 and the Lumix DMC-FS42 will be launched in May.
Extra optical zoom
The FS62 and FS42 both feature 10.1Mp sensors, while the FS12 boasts 12.1Mp of resolution. All three models have a 4x optical zoom, while the FS62 and FS42 models will optically zoom to a 7.8x factor if the resolution is reduced to 3Mp. A similarly reduced resolution on the FS62 will give a 7.1x zoom.
All three models feature intelligent settings including face recognition and intelligent scene selectors, which enable the cameras’ processors to automatically choose the best scene modes for the pictures being taken, such as portrait or macro shots.
The FS12 and the FS62 feature image stabilisation and an intelligent ISO control, which adjusts the sensitivity of the cameras to light depending on the ambient light and the use of the flash.
Richard Parris, Which? digital camera expert, said: ‘The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS3 model performed well in our tests for a budget compact camera. We’ll be keen to see if Panasonic can keep up this standard with these new additions to the low-cost FS range.’
