3 launches two sim-only deals with free Skype calls from £10

Mobile phone operator 3 announced the launch of two new sim-only deals on 1 May. If you have a 3G mobile phone, you can get unlimited texts and free calls to other 3 customers and Skype users from £10 a month.

3’s Sim-only deals are on a one-month rolling contract, so you won’t be tied in for a long period.

Both packages on offer include free calls to other 3 customers, 3 Skype calls to other Skype users and free unlimited texts. In addition, you can choose from:

  • 100 any network minutes for £10 a month
  • 300 any network minutes for £15 a month

See our review of mobile phone services to find out how satisfied customers are with each provider.

3g and Skype mobile phones

To get one of 3’s Sim-only deals, you need an unlocked third generation (3G) mobile phone handset, as 2G phones are not compatible with 3’s service.

Our advice on how to choose a mobile phone tariff has more information on switching providers.

Skype is a Voip service that allows you to make phone calls using an internet connection – calls between Skype users are free no matter where you are calling in the world. By using Skype's service with 3, you can call other Skype users across the globe for free from your mobile.

You can check if your mobile is Skype compatible on 3’s website. To check if your phone is compatible with 3’s mobile service, you can call the provider on 0800 358 2811 or visit any 3 shop.
