Asus sells seashellsManufacturer's latest seashell-inspired netbook

06 May 2009

Serial netbook manufacturer Asus has released the latest addition to its Eee PC range with the release of the Seashell.

Asus claims that the design of the Eee PC 1008HA Seashell is inspired by the contours of a seashell. It’s hard to see a direct comparison but the Seashell is certainly slim; the case is under 1-inch thick at its thickest point and it weighs just 1.1Kg.

Lithium-polymer battery

The slim line Lithium Polymer battery helps to keep the notebook slim and according to Asus also offers six hours worth of battery life.

Powering the 10-inch laptop is an Intel Atom 1.67GHz chip and a 160GB hard disk. The keyboard, claims Asus, is just 8% smaller than a conventional keyboard.

However, style comes at a price with the Eee PC 1008HA Seashell costing £379 (inc VAT) putting it at the higher end of the netbook scale. Direct comparisons of netbooks including Best Buys are available on the Which? website.
