28 May 2009
Virgin Media has launched a new range of pay monthly mobile phone tariffs – including what it's describing as a ‘market beating’ £18 price plan.
Virgin Media’s new range of mobile phone tariffs aim to uncut the price of comparable plans on rival networks, and include plans ranging from £8.50 to £35 a month with free texts and minutes.

Cheaper mobile phone tariffs
Virgin Media's £18, 18 month tariff includes a mobile handset, 250 inclusive minutes and unlimited texts. A further £18 a month tariff offers unlimited web browsing, 150 minutes and unlimited texts.
A new £25, 18 month tariff is also being launched, which offers unlimited web browsing and texts, as well as 500 minutes.
The move follows Virgin Media's introduction of a cheap £8.50 contract tariff earlier this year, making Virgin Media the first mobile phone service provider in the UK to break the £9 barrier on monthly tariffs.

Best mobile phone deals
Which? mobile service expert Ceri Stanaway says: 'Before signing up to a new tariff, consumers should ensure they will actually use a good portion of inclusive texts, minutes or data browsing each month so they don't end up paying more than they have to.
'Consider whether you really need a new handset. Many operators will give you a cheaper mobile phone deal if you forego a new mobile phone or you could even consider signing up for a no-commitment sim-only plan.'
