Vodafone launches 'Contact Keeper' on FacebookSaves your numbers in case you lose your phone
08 May 2009
Vodafone has launched ContactKeeper - a branded Facebook application that allows users to save a record of all their friends' mobile phone numbers.
In the event that a mobile phone is lost, stolen or damaged, the natural course of action for many users of the popular social networking site has been to create a Facebook group or send a message to all their online friends asking for them to send their numbers to the unlucky phone loser.
This can become time-consuming and annoying if your friends are prone to losing their phone on a regular basis. The free Vodafone ContactKeeper Facebook application avoids this scenario by providing a simple method to back-up mobile phone contacts online.
The Contact Keeper application first requires you to contact all your chosen Facebook friends to ask them to provide their numbers to add into your online phonebook. Once they've done that, they're saved until you need them.
Which? has Top 10 tips on how to prevent your phone being stolen, what to do in the event of a theft, and tips on how to keep your phone secure. There are also expert reviews of over 170 mobile phones for if you suddenly find yourself needing a new handset.
Which? tech expert Al Warman says: 'There does seem to be a flaw in ContactKeeper's approach, however - namely that you'll still have to type all your friends' phone numbers into your new mobile handset when you get it.'
