Audi's latest SUV, the Q5, is good to drive and environmentally conscious.

But it can't be selling that well as there are quite a few deals to be had at the moment. Our pick is the sensible 2.0-litre TDI turbodiesel in comfortable SE trim. At Motorlogix this specification is available brand new for £26,187.

List price is £29,325 on the road, giving a saving of £3,138 – impressive on such a recently introduced Audi model.

Alternatively, if you don’t want to wait 12 weeks for factory delivery, you could try MyCarQuotes. It can put you in touch with dealers that have stock examples available. We found one such Q5, priced at £29,959.

Sounds expensive? It's not – it's loaded up with options and represents a £2,536 saving on the list price. What's more, you can drive it straight off the forecourt.

The Hyundai Coupé SIII is feeling old these days, but it is still quite a looker.

So if you want an undemanding driving experience but a sharp appearance, it’s worth considering – especially given the standard five-year unlimited mileage warranty and this price: Buy A Car has the 2.0-litre manual for £13,437.

The official on the road price is £17,995, so that’s a saving of £4,558.

The Which? Car Buying Guide has more on the Hyundai Coupé's reliability and performance.

Smooth and efficient: Subaru Legacy

Smooth and efficient: Subaru Legacy

Subaru Legacy diesel for under £16k

The Legacy 2.0D is probably the best car Subaru currently makes.

Its unique 'boxer' design turbodiesel engine is smooth and efficient, while the Legacy offers decent quality and an engaging drive. Exchange rates are impacting the cost of importing these cars from Japan, so the current £20,080 starting list price is only likely to rise.

However, these are now starting to hit the used market. All Approved Cars is showing the cheapest one we’ve found at Subaru dealer Chandlers Grantham in Lincolnshire. Registered in September 08, this saloon has covered 9,320 miles and is priced at £15,990.

Save yourself £4,090 by buying used.
