Save thousands on an A8
Market Watch - new and used car deals
Whether you want to buy a new or nearly new car, we can point you towards some huge savings again this week - on Audi, Fiat and Kia.
More than £11k off Audi A8
Audi A8s commonly offer a good opportunity to save serious amounts of cash - but this one hasn’t even got a ridiculously thirsty petrol engine.
The car in question is at Drive the Deal, and it’s a new and unregistered 3.0-litre V6 TDI turbodiesel quattro in SE specification with automatic gearbox. Complete with luxury options such as TV tuner, 20-inch alloy wheels, wood trim, Bose stereo and all-round heated seats, list price apparently works out at £58,865.
Drive the Deal is selling it for £47,460. That’s a saving of £11,405 - more than 19%.
Brand-new Fiat Grande Punto for less than nearly new
New Fiat Grande Punto is cheaper than buying used
Time for another new versus used pricing conundrum - this one concerns the Fiat Grande Punto 1.4 T-Jet Sporting.
Fiat’s 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine - the T-Jet - is a decent little pocket rocket, so no wonder the used car market is rather fond of it. Prices are buoyant, with plenty of nearly new examples still commanding £10,000 or more on dealer forecourts.
The list price new for the three-door model is £12,755. But forget buying nearly new. There are plenty of places offering to sell you a completely new one for less than £9,000. Perrys dealer group has them at £8,995, FiatSuperSaver at £8,795 - a discount of £3,960.
Tempting, but we’d try AutoeBid first. The reverse auction site, where dealers bid their lowest prices for your custom, reckons £8,969 is the most you’ll pay - and you might just steal one for even less. Especially as the end of June approaches, and dealers scrabble to meet quarterly sales targets…
Kia Sedona less than half price
Half price Kia Sedona
The Kia Sedona may not be sexy, but it’s got plenty of space for the family - and Motorpoint has got a bunch of year-old examples at nearly £11k less than the brand-new list price.
All are 2.9 CRDi turbodiesel automatics - so torquey but hardly efficient - in LS trim. The higher mileage examples are going for £10,299. However, you can get a more reasonable 10,000-miler for £10,499. List price for this model is £21,495 so that’s more than 50% off.
The Sedona is currently on offer from Kia with a £3,000 discount - but even so, buying used from Motorpoint still represents a saving of £7,996. Money you can put towards the £215 annual road tax and 31.4mpg fuel economy costs.
