Which? reveals Best Car ManufacturerBMW beats Skoda and Mazda to the top prize
10 June 2009
BMW was named Best Car Manufacturer at a glittering ceremony to honour the winners of this year's Which? Awards.
The luxury German marque fought off stiff competition from last year's winner Mazda – and budget brand Skoda – to scoop the top prize.
Which? chief executive Peter Vicary-Smith said: 'BMW drivers seem to love their cars, with 87% in our survey describing themselves as very satisfied with the ownership experience.
'The company's vehicles always excel in our road tests, while BMW’s innovative EfficientDynamics measures mean some of the best cars to drive have also become incredibly fuel efficient.'
Best Car Manufacturer award
The winner of the award for Best Car Manufacturer is determined by real-life owners' views, which are collected every year as part of the UK's biggest car survey.
Speaking at Tuesday's awards ceremony at the British Museum, BMW UK's managing director Tim Abbott said: 'We are delighted to have won such a prestigious award, particularly as it is our customers who have rated us so highly.
'We take great pains to ensure that the quality of service we offer both directly and through our dealers matches the excellence of our cars.'
Most reliable cars
Which? will be revealing the other winners from this year's – including the most reliable car brands – in due course.
