Candy unveils 'U-See' oven with LED lightsU-See oven claims better visibility during cooking
23 July 2009
Candy has unveiled its first 'U-See' oven – a cooker that uses white LED lights to help users keep a close eye on the cooking process without opening the door.
The LED lights in the oven are claimed to be more energy efficient than traditional lighting systems and Candy says the ‘U-See technology’ will deliver bright light to the whole oven cavity, allowing a clearer view across all oven shelves.
Which? has tested 45 of the latest freestanding cookers, including ovens from Hotpoint, Bosch and Indesit - find out which are the best in our freestanding cookers review. You'll also find reviews of built-in ovens, range cookers and cooker hoods.
Energy efficient oven
Which? ovens expert, Matt Stevens, says: 'The LED lights on the Candy oven certainly help it to look the part and a great looking oven can really make a kitchen, but it's performance that matters."
The oven's U-See system is claimed to use less than 4 watts of power, compared with up to 25 watts used by standard oven lighting systems.
Candy says this means the oven uses less energy than is required to achieve an A-rated energy efficiency classification.
Candy U-See oven features
The Candy U-See oven also come with Candy's ‘U Cook' program. This includes:
- Vario-fan - a temperature and moisture management system that automatically alters the fan speed to improve airflow and inner cavity temperature
- Supergrill - increases the power by 50% compared to a standard grill.
- Sprinter - faster pre-heating oven times, 0-200°C in 8 minutes.
- Soft Cook - controls and maintains humidity in the oven to help retain the moisture content of food.
