Supporting local shops

The new research by Paypoint, a payment services provider for 22,000 retailers, found most UK consumers (63%) use local shops to top up on weekly shops. But they have other uses – 12% top up their mobile phones at local shops, while 9% go to them to pay household bills.

Paypoint launched its ‘Better Local Living’ campaign today to support local businesses, calling for recognition of the importance of local shops in communities. It said its survey revealed that 27% of respondents were aware that many local shops will go out of business if they’re not being used.
