Record haul of Best Buy TVs in latest Which? testPanasonic and Sony dominate TV test
08 July 2009
Panasonic and Sony cemented their positions as the best TV brands with a remarkable sweep of Best Buys between them in the latest Which? TV test.
Panasonic and Sony Best Buys
Three out of the four Panasonic Viera TVs on test made it a hat-trick of Best Buys for Panasonic: the TX-L32G10, the TX-L32X15 and the TX-L32S10 - all 32-inch LCD TVs.
Rivals Sony went one better with a clean sweep. We tested four from the company's Bravia TV range - the 40-inch KDL-40W5500, KDL-40WE5, KDL-40E5510 and 32-inch KDL-32V5500 - and all four bagged our coveted seal of quality.
Top scorer was the striking wooden-framed Sony E5510. It's packed with all the latest Sony features but comes with a price tag (£1,300) to match. For less than half that amount you could buy the 32-inch Panasonic TX-L32X15 that our experts reckon delivered the best picture on test.
LCD TV and plasma TV reviews
Michael Briggs, Which? TV expert, said: 'This is something of a record at the Which? lab and a real indication of the high quality LCD TVs currently available'.
The only model to miss out from the rival brands was the 42-inch TX-P42S10, which continues the trend of recent Panasonic plasma TVs just coming up slightly short in our tests.
An overview of some of the models currently at our labs can be found among our LCD and plasma TV reviews. Full results for all models are due online on the 17 July.
