Frankfurt Motor Show: BMW X5 special editionPremium SUV celebrates 10 year BMW X5 birthday

15 September 2009

Fully-loaded BMW X5 '10-year edition'

It’s 10 year’s since the original BMW X5 was launched, and to celebrate the company has announced a special limited edition anniversary model.

Based on the existing X5 xDrive35d, 2,000 examples of the ‘10-Year Edition’ will be built for global sale - with around 200 expected to be earmarked for the UK.

Powered by a 282bhp twin-turbo diesel engine, the SUV promises an impressive blend of performance and reasonable efficiency. We won’t say ‘economy’ for reasons that will become clear below.

Unique details

All X5 10-Year Editions are finished in ‘Sophistio Grey’ metallic paint with ‘Matt Aluminium’ exterior detailing. The 20-inch alloy wheels are unique, while luxury features include panoramic glass roof, Comfort Access, Comfort Seats and Nappa leather.

The interior detailing is finished off by anthracite coloured headlining and piano black trim, while ‘10-Year’ plaques adorn the doors, sills and dashboard.

Staggeringly expensive

The BMW X5 10-Year Edition is on sale now, priced from £53,075. That’s a truly remarkable £10,200 more than the regular £42,875 X5 xDrive35d SE model.
