A healthy saving for Renault's latest Megane with turbo power
Save nearly £4.5k on Renault Mégane
The latest shows a marked improvement over the previous version in terms of quality, if not style. And it also features some high-tech engines - on which you can already get a discount.
Including the new 1.4-litre TCe turbo petrol with 128bhp. This offers the performance of a bigger engine with the fuel economy of a smaller one - officially returning 42.8mpg combined. UK Car Discount is currently selling unregistered five-door examples in Dynamique trim with metallic paint included for just £13,535.
List price is £17,980 - so that’s a chunky £4,445 saving.
If you want a four-wheel drive Skoda Superb, this is the deal for you
Save over £6.5k on Skoda Superb
Of course, if a Mégane isn’t big enough there’s always the - which is so large it’s difficult to imagine many people ever needing anything bigger.
Exceptionally roomy inside, and with a clever TwinDoor boot mechanism that allows it to act as both saloon and hatchback, the Superb offers great quality, a fine driving experience, and good value. And to top off all this, CarQuake has knocked over £6,500 off the asking price.
The catch is that this particular model isn’t exactly mainstream. The 168bhp 2.0-litre TDI turbodiesel engine is excellent, the Elegance trim level fully stocked; but the 4x4 system - rather unnecessary in the UK, and not exactly a boon for fuel economy.
Still, reduced from £24,530 to just £17,995, that’s a huge £6,535 saving. The cars are unregistered and in stock with a choice of colours - add £400 if you want metallic paint.
Tempting lease deals on the frugal VW Golf 1.6 TDI
VW Golf for £199/month
We don’t often cover leasing offers here, but this struck us as a pretty good deal.
Broadspeed is doing three-year leasing on 1.6 TDI turbodiesel for just £199 a month. To put that into perspective, a Smart ForTwo Cabriolet costs £184 a month, and a Honda Civic £218, both also on Broadspeed.
That said, a Mercedes C-Class at £263 a month also seems like good value. See the website for more details.
