Peugeot’s new 5008 people carrier starts at around £17k, while the smaller Bipper Tepee will cost upwards of £10k.
The Peugeot 5008 range starts at £16,896 for the 118bhp 1.6-litre VTi petrol Active, rising to £23,695 for the 160bhp 2.0-litre HDi turbodiesel automatic in Exclusive specification. Between these two points is a middle-ranking Sport trim level, 1.6-litre turbo petrol, 1.6-litre turbodiesel and a lower powered 2.0-litre turbodiesel manual.
5008 gets standard air-con
Standard equipment includes air conditioning, electronic stability control (ESC), electronic parking brake with hill holder and ‘Energy Saver’ tyres. Sport specification adds 17-inch alloy wheels, aluminium trim detailing, cruise control, speed limiter, extra storage and a lighting pack with removable torch.
The Range-topping Exclusive gets a panoramic glass sunroof, automatic lights and wipers, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, electric folding wing mirrors, rear parking sensors, climate control, USB socket and Bluetooth amongst its additional equipment. It also features a head-up display, which projects information such as current speed onto the windscreen, and Peugeot’s Distance Alert system to help the driver keep themselves and all six potential passengers safer.
Seven seats in Peugeot 5008
The Peugeot 5008 seats seven in total, with a fold-flat middle-row bench for three passengers, plus a pair of rear seats that disappear under the floor as required. With all seats stowed, up to 2,506 litres of load space is available.
The 5008 goes on sale in January 2010.
Peugeot Bipper Tepee MPV
In other Peugeot news, the French company has announced a new Bipper Tepee model.
A utilitarian five-seater MPV, the Bipper Tepee is Peugeot’s equivalent to the and the . They are all compact van-based people carriers, built on a modified Fiat Punto platform.
Petrol or diesel for Bipper Tepee
Available with 1.4-litre petrol or 1.4-litre HDI turbodiesel engines, the Bipper Tepee comes in S and Outdoor variants. Standard equipment includes four airbags, heated door mirrors, remote central locking and a split-fold rear seat. The Outdoor adds 15mm higher suspension, rugged looks, roof bars and air conditioning.
Boot space ranges from 356 litres under the parcel shelf to 884 litres with the rear seats folded – and a massive 2,500 litres with the rear seats totally removed. It’s a lot of practicality for your money.
Bipper Tepee for less than £10k
The entry-level Bipper Tepee petrol starts at £9,995. Upgrade to the diesel from £10,995 and as well as improved fuel economy and better mid-range performance, you’ll also pay just £35 a year road tax thanks to 119g/km CO2 emissions.
