Carcraft, which has 11 showrooms around the UK, said it will accept any car during the deal – regardless of how old it is or how long it has been owned for.
This marks a big departure from the rules of the government’s official , which state that drivers must buy a brand-new model and meet .
Used scrappage deals
Carcraft said a wide range of its used cars are covered by the offer, including superminis and large 4x4s.
The company is also offering a free parts and labour guarantee with each car sold, plus free HPI history checks and 120-point mechanical checks.
One of the main criticisms of the government’s has been that the £2,000 saving is quickly wiped out by depreciation. With used cars, however, this effect is less noticeable.
Carcraft sales director Mike Walsh said: ‘Carcraft has always tried to make motoring as affordable as possible for as many people as possible. Our ‘Beat the Crush’ campaign is a logical next step as we try and help those left out of the scrappage scheme to get a better, more reliable car.’
