Mobile network 3 has announced it will now offer the iPod Touch bundled with its ‘MiFi’ mobile Wi-Fi wireless modem.
The iPod Touch offers much of the functionality of the iPhone 3GS but as it lacks 3G connectivity, must rely on Wi-Fi for web browsing. 3’s MiFi portable wireless router acts as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot to allow the iPod Touch to connect to 3’s 3G network.

The iPod Touch and MiFi bundle from 3 will cost £23 per month over a 2-year contract, which includes an 8GB iPod Touch and 5GB or mobile data. According to 3, this is enough for 72 hours of web browsing, downloading or streaming 800 MP3 songs, and 400 app sessions.
iPod Touch and MiFi bundle is cheaper than iPhone
An iPhone 3GS, however, costs at least £34.26 per month over the same 2-year period, but includes unlimited UK data and Wi-Fi.
Alternatively, consumers who already own an iPod Touch can buy a separate PAYG MiFi for £49.99 plus £20 for a 3GB data allowance spread over three months.
Charlotte Blanchard, Director of Products and Services at 3 said: ‘the iPod touch offers a really great browsing experience, but as with so many devices with WiFi capabilities, the internet function rarely gets used because hotspots are so hard to come by. Now with MiFi on 3, iPod touch users can get wireless internet whenever they want.’
