Persil washing-up liquid, recommended as a Which? Best Buy washing-up liquid, will be discontinued under plans by parent company Unilever.
The move is part of Unilever’s strategy to focus on its top 100 selling products and ditch its low-earning items, ‘stripping out unnecessary complexity from our supply chain’ by cutting the number of individual product variants by around 40%.
Persil is the second biggest washing-up brand on the market in the UK, after Procter & Gamble’s Fairy washing-up liquid.
According to an official statement from Unilever: ‘In only one case have we removed a brand from the market outright – Persil washing-up liquid – which will be fully phased out by the end of the year.’
No other Persil products will be affected.
