Homebase offers free insurance for large buysHomebase is first to give free prepay insurance

26 November 2009

Homebase is now offering automatic free prepayment insurance to all customers buying big-ticket items for home delivery.

Homebase says the free prepayment insurance will boost consumer confidence for those buying big purchases for the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom after the collapse of big names like MFI and Land of Leather last year.

It means any customer who pays a deposit or the full amount upfront for a large purchase will automatically be opted into the free insurance scheme and have their payment protected.

Homebase free insurance offer

Homebase is the first UK retailer to offer free prepayment insurance on all purchases that require home delivery and is encouraging other shops to follow suit to reassure consumers that they can buy with confidence.

If you're considering big purchases like washing machines, dishwashers and , or even looking for smaller home essentials like vacuum cleaners, check out our comprehensive Which? reviews to see which models achieve our coveted Which? Best Buy status.

Homebase insurance gives 90 days cover

The Homebase free prepayment insurance will cover customers for 90 days from when they buy their home delivery item.

Customers can choose to opt out of the free insurance offer at the point of sale instore, or at the online checkout if they're buying through the Homebase website.
