Lexus LS

Lexus LS is available with hybrid power

Winter is here, so we've got some fantastic, out-of-season deals on convertibles. There's also a £3,000 saving on a new Ford Fiesta, plus a gigantic £30,000 off a Lexus LS.

We start with that high-end, high-discount deal from Broadspeed. The car broker is offering a massive £30,000 saving on some versions of the Lexus LS.

These are the Japanese equivalent of a Mercedes S-class or BMW 7 Series - loaded with toys and offering a super smooth driving experience. The 2009-registered cars have covered a maximum of 100 miles, and some of them may not even be used at all. Choose between the conventional V8 LS 460 or the V8 petrol-hybrid LS 600.

Basic list price for an LS 460 is £61,540, so the amount of money off is potentially immense depending upon exact specification. Whichever model you choose, the Lexus LS is a huge amount of car for the money.

Ford Fiesta

Save £3k on stock Ford Fiestas

The remains in strong demand - and for good reason. But if you want to buy one from stock, can you still get a good deal?

Yes. Online Cars Limited, for example, has a selection of Fiestas - mostly in the recently discontinued Style+ trim, which includes air conditioning - available from stock, all with discounts of around £3,000. Choose between small petrol or turbodiesel engines, three-door and five-door versions, and even shades of metallic paint.

The biggest discount is £3,254 off a 1.4-litre TDCi diesel five-door, taking the asking price down to £11,144. And the cheapest Fiesta on offer is a 1.2-litre Studio petrol at £8,513 - a £3,017 saving.

Winter convertible deals

Finally, online used car retailer Autoquake has this week chosen to remind us that winter is the ideal time to bag a bargain convertible. The company keeps more than 50 used convertibles in stock, and says its prices have fallen by an average of £1,403 in the last two months. That equates to 10%.

More specifically, Audis are an average of £1,923 cheaper (10.7%), Peugeots are £960 less (11.5%) and Renaults are reduced by £1,307 (15.1%).

The company also points out that December usually only has three more rainy days than July - 15 in total (these figures are for London and from BBC Weather). So perhaps a winter drop top isn’t necessarily as daft as it sounds.

Our choice from Autoquake’s current stock? How about a Mercedes CLK 280 Sport on a 57 plate with 18,772 miles for just £23,182? That’s as much as £5,000 less than the Parker's guide used retail price.
