A new Ford Focus for less than £11k - just like the good ol' days
The Which? deal-hunters have unearthed a Ford Focus with a realistic price tag (under the ), a bargain-priced diesel Avensis and a couple of big savings on the Peugeot 4007 and 407 SW models.
New Ford Focus for under £10,800
While we continue to be amazed at the ever increasing of the - the range currently starts at £17,495; for just £500 more you could have a BlueMotion diesel - thare still some good deals to be found. Here’s an excellent scrappage offer, direct from a main dealer.
Birchwood Ford in Sussex has stock examples of the 1.8-litre petrol Focus Zetec five-door, complete with Sport pack and Bluetooth, going for £11,995. The full retail price is now £18,745 (although there is a £1,700 Ford saving on this at the moment), making Birchwood’s scrappage price £6,750 less.
What’s more, if you are prepared to buy on a Ford finance scheme, a further £1,200 saving is available - bringing the car down to just £10,795 (plus the interest, which you may be able to avoid by paying the amount off early).
Toyota Avensis diesel for less than £15k

The isn't terribly exciting, but it's certainly a reliable car. And we like it more when it’s cheap.
Broadspeed is offering 09- and 59-plate 2.0-litre D-4D turbodiesels with a maximum of 100 miles for as little as £14,994. The cheapest list price for an Avensis with this engine is £18,965 for basic T2 specification.
So that’s a saving of at least £3,971, and Broadspeed says it has a wide choice of models available.
Save more than £8,000 on a Peugeot 4007
For an even bigger discount, try a bigger car - such as the Peugeot 4007 SUV.
Fancy saving £8,000 on a Peugeot 4007?
Motorpoint has several delivery mileage 2.2-litre HDi turbodiesel in stock in GT specification - including climate control, cruise control and 16-inch alloy wheels - priced £17,999.
List price is £26,180 - so that’s an £8,181 reduction. Just make sure you check the origin of the cars before you buy if you are uncomfortable with imports; Motorpoint often sources cars from outside the UK.
Save £7,300 on Peugeot 407 SW
Finally, speaking of Peugeots, online broker Deal Drivers has Peugeot 407 SW Sport HDi turbodiesel estates available with metallic paint and sat nav for £17,195.
List price for 407 SWs with this spec is in excess of £24.5k - so that’s a saving of over £7,300. Be quick.
