77% of people say rebuilding customer trust should be a New Year’s resolution for banks, according to new research by Which?
Over 2,000 UK consumers between the ages of 16 and 64 were surveyed online.
85% of those questioned said they think it is very important for banks to listen to their customers, while 83% said it was important for the government to listen to the public, as well as to the banks, when considering reform of the industry.
The Which? Big Banking Debate
The findings come ahead of the Which? Big Banking Debate, to be held in central London on Thursday 4 February. The event will give the public an opportunity to voice their opinions on the future of Britain’s banking system.
Which? chief executive Peter Vicary-Smith says: ‘Ordinary people are still feeling the repercussions of the financial crisis, yet their voice has so far been missing from the debate about how to rebuild our banking system.
‘Everyone uses banking services in some form or another so it’s only right that the public has a say in how banks can better serve society.’
Your New Year’s resolutions
56% of the people Which? surveyed said they have made money-related New Year’s resolutions of their own.
43% said they had made more financial New Year’s resolutions for 2010 than they did for 2009, with 55% of 16-24 olds stating they have made more money resolutions this year.
